Interview with Alessandro Oddolini

Swimwear collections seem to have a good market response in this moment despite this remarkable consume contraction of high-profile lingerie. Is this true also for your company? Are you developing projects or actions focused on swimwear?

Swimwear is always an important sector and this goes to our company too. Actions we are focusing upon, aim to the study and to the realization of a single collection merging at the same time swimwear, underwear and womenswear with the objective to create one story and of course something harmonious.

MarediModa is an exhibition dedicated to swimwear collections exclusively produced by European companies. Do you think that this is could be a winning choice to promote and defend a Made in Europe culture?

MarediModa is nowadays the most representative exhibition for the Made in Europe swimwear. We must support and promote it more and more with the objective to let it grow and protect it as if it were a common good for the entire chain.

Are there any advantages to propose Made in Italy collections?

The Made in Italy will make the difference in  many companies, it would be reasonable to make a distinction between companies buying their finished product abroad and those who simply manufacture it. I think that labelling a “Made in” different from Italy could be restrictive when the design, the materials and the cut are totally Italian  and only the final manufacturing part is carried out abroad. Those who are in this business know well the difficulties you face  in finding domestic manufacturing laboratories. Chrities has set up its own indoor laboratory and has held relationships with the remaining few. It would be right and certainly more fair to clarify every aspect  of the production.
